PURPOSE:To obtain a composite foamed cushioning material which can be produced inexpensively, is relatively compact and excels in cushioning property, by dispersing small gel balls based on a silicone resin of a penetration in a specified range in the cells of a foam. CONSTITUTION:This foamed cushioning material is formed by dispersing the following small gel balls in the cells of a foam. A silicone resin stock solution is discharged dropwise from a nozzle into the depth of water, allowed to take a substantially spherical form by the ambient water pressure and allowed as such to gel in the water to form small gel balls based on the silicone resin and having a penetration of about 50-200. Since the gel-like substance based on the silicone resin is dispersed in the cells of a foam in the form of small gel balls, it can exhibit a cushioning property which cannot be attained by a simple foam and is relatively light and compact. Because the gel balls are contained in the foam in such a manner that they are enveloped in some of the cells, they need not be sealed in an outer packaging material in a separate step and can be handled in the same manner as that for a conventional foam. |
