Pyrrolidinone derivatives, process for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions containing them The invention relates to a compound of formula I (I) wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R2 represents a phenyl group optionally monodi- or tri-substituted by an alkyl group of 1 to 2 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group of 1 to 2 carbon atoms, a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom or a trifluoromethyl, nitro, benzyloxy or hydroxy group; or a pyridyl group. Processes for the preparation of the new compounds are also described. In animal trials the new compounds have proved effective in alleviating or remedying conditions of restricted cerebral performance.
