Apparatus for the extrusion of a thermoplastic melt

The apparatus comprises the series connection of a metering device (1), an extruder (2) and a gear pump (4). By this apparatus, the melt is discharged under high pressure. In order to coordinate the individual elements of this apparatus with one another, the gear pump (4) is driven at constant speed. The melt pressure between extruder (2) and gear pump is controlled to keep at a constant value by the speed of the extruder being controlled as a function of the melt pressure. The torque of the extruder screw is controlled by the metering rate of the metering device (1) being changed as a function of the torque of the extruder screw.
