Known double-storey parking areas with two raisable and lowerable platforms and a pit for receiving the lower platform require either a deep pit or exhibit a small distance between the two platforms, which makes walking difficult. The novel double-storey parking area is to permit a shallow depth of the pit while, at the same time, making it possible to walk comfortably on the lower platform. The novel double-storey parking area is characterised by an additional raising apparatus (53) which permits an increase in the raising height DELTA H of the upper platform (3) with respect to the raising height DELTA h of the lower platform (2). The novel double-storey parking area can be used for anything from an individual parking area for two motor vehicles right up to large-scale parking areas for a multiplicity of motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
