MANUFACTURE OF CONTACT LENS, RAW LENS BODY USED THEREFOR AND RAW LENS BODY MOLDING DIE

PURPOSE: To shorten the work time and to reduce the production cost by forming an unprocessed plastic lens body having a pair of curved surfaces facing each other which are approximated to the front face and the rear face of a completed contact lens and mechanizing this pair of curved surfaces facing each other. CONSTITUTION: An unprocessed plastic lens body 10 is formed which has a pair of a concave 11 and a convex 16 facing each other which are approximated to a rear face 12 and a front face 18 of a completed contact lens 14. Thereafter, the concave 11 and the convex 16 of the formed unprocessed plastic lens body 10 are machined to form the contact lens having an accurate shape. They are machined with a diamond tool T controlled by a proper lathe. Thus, the work time is shortened, and the production cost is reduced.
