PURPOSE:To obtain a cleaner blade having wear resistance and durability by coating a plasma-polymerized film consisting of an amorphous carbon film deposited with an org. compd. by glow discharge plasma in a vacuum on a blade surface. CONSTITUTION:The plasma-polymerized film 1 is coated as an overcoating layer on the surface of a cleaner blade consisting of a conductive base 3 and org. elastic body 2. This plasma-polymerized film consists of the amorphous carbon film deposited with the org. compd. by the glow discharge plasma in the vacuum. Not only the surface but also the side face of the org. elastic body are coated. The thickness of the coating film is preferably 0.2-50mum. The film is liable to be affected by the subsurface and the durability is degraded if the film is thin. The film is liable to crack and exfoliate and is charged up by friction with a photosensitive body if the film is too thick. The photosensitive body is then undesirably affected by such charge up.
