The interdental wedge with a tapered stem (1) attached to a head (2) is made of a transparent material and is used where the filling material is hardened by a light beam. The stem is triangular in section, and one side (1f)has a textured surface. This surface may be ribbed, the ribs (1d) being not parallel to the wedge axis, e.g. at right angles to it. The ribs can be triangular, and are parallel, being separated by rounded depressions (1e). Alternative rib shapes are shown. For quick identification, the shape of the head is selected to match the length of of wedge. ADVANTAGE - The wedge does not throw a shadow within the filling zone when the light beam is used.
