OXIDE TYPE SUPERCONDUCTOR AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a lightweight oxide type superconductor having superior stability and a specified compsn. consisting of Li, Ti and O. CONSTITUTION:This oxide type superconductor is represented by a general formula Li1+xTi2-xO4 (-0.4<=x<0.5) and is produced as follows: a powdery mixture prepd. by blending a lithium salt which is converted into lithium oxide by heating or lithium-titanium double oxide with titanium oxide in (1+x):(2-x):4 ratio (-0.4<=x<0.5) of Li:Ti:O is compacted to a desired shape and the resulting green compact is sintered at 750-900 deg.C in an inert gaseous atmosphere or in vacuum.
