PURPOSE:To prevent picture quality defect and to prevent the generation of moire by determing an objective bit or raster for executing logical processing by random numbers in each block in order to expand or contract a reading image and executing interpolation or thining in the main and sub-scanning directions of image processing. CONSTITUTION:Each number of dots shown by the value of the denominator of a fraction indicating a contraction ratio is processed from a line buffer for one raster in the main scanning direction. When the contraction ratio is 3/4 and the random number is 2 for instance, OR operation between the 2nd bit in four dots and its adjacent 3rd bit is found out in a logical processing part 15 and sent to a data selector 13. The data selector 13 adjusts the path of data so that 1st and 4th dots are outputted as they are from a latch 12 to output terminals E, G and the OR data between the 2nd and 3rd dots is outputted to an output terminal F. As the result, one dot out of four dots inputted to the latch 12 is thinned and comes to 3 bits, the dots are outputted from the terminal F and 3/4 contraction can be executed without thining significant information 1. |
