PURPOSE:To increase coulomb efficiency and energy density by using a polyaniline composite electrode prepared by electrochemically polymerizing aniline in a specified medium on a reaction electrode made of an irregular porous conductive substance. CONSTITUTION:Polyaniline having a fibril diameter of 0.1mum or below and a large specific surface area is synthesized by using perchloric acid polymerization electrolyte having a pH of 2.0 or below. For example, 1.5 mol/l HClO4 aqueous solution (pH is zero or below) containing 0.5 mol/l aniline is used as a reaction solution, amorphous carbon, prepared from phenol resin, having a porosity of 45% is used as a reaction electrode, and constant voltage electrolysis is conducted. The polyaniline is dried, then put in a propylene carbonate solution containing 1 mol/l LiClO4, and a potential of -0.2V vs Ag/Ag<+> is applied to use as a battery electrode. A polyaniline composite electrode in which morphology is controlled and current collecting efficiency is increased is formed. A battery having high coulomb efficiency and high energy density is obtained. |
