摘要 PURPOSE:To improve measurement accuracy by forming a liquid absorptive layer for which a water absorptive high polymer having high liquid retentivity and water absorptive high polymer having high dispersibility are used to the upper part of electrodes and covering the surface of said electrodes with a uniform gel layer of a sample reaction liquid. CONSTITUTION:The liquid absorptive layer 11 is provided on the measuring electrode 2 and counter electrode 3. This liquid absorptive layer 11 is formed by mixing the water absorptive high polymer having high liquid retentivity, for example, carboxy methyl cellulose and the water absorptive high polymer having high dispersibility, for example, polyethylene oxide. Potassium ferrocyanide is formed in a reaction layer 9 when a sample liquid is dropped onto a development layer 10. This potassium ferrocyanide arrives at the liquid absorptive layer 11 through a filter layer 7. The above-mentioned product is rapidly and uniformly dispersed in the surface of the liquid absorptive layer 11 by the effect of the polyethylene oxide having the high dispersibility upon arriving at the liquid absorptive layer 11 and thereafter, the liquid is sufficiently retained by the effect of the carboxy methyl cellulose having the high liquid retentivity. The concn. of the glucose in the sample is detected by oxidizing the electrode systems 2, 3 by the gel layer of the sample liquid having the uniform viscosity distribution.
