PURPOSE:To enable printing always in best condition by changing the waveform of a drive current which is applied to a drive coil in accordance with the application conditions of a printing head such as variations of its temperature and drive voltage or change of the type of the printing head. CONSTITUTION:An off pulse width T3 and an off pulse width T2 in total energization time T1, continuous energization time T2 and chopper drive period (T1-T2) for determination of the waveform of a head output signal TC can freely be set and changed by operation of a program, depending on whether the temperature of a printing head is higher or lower than a reference temperature. In addition, each time T1, T2 and each pulse width T3, T4 to be set in each timer circuit are changed, by judging whether a drive voltage is higher or lower than the reference voltage based on an input level of an input terminal. Further, each time T1, T2 and each pulse width T3, T4 to be set in each timer circuit are changed depending on the type of a printing head to be used. |
