PURPOSE:To enable a curl quantity of a recording paper to be predicted based on image data, by providing a calculating circuit for calculations based on a predetermined prediction calculation formula, and a heating means disposed to act on the back side of the recording paper so as to correct a curl in the paper. CONSTITUTION:An ink sheet 3 is paid out from an ink sheet payout roll 5, and is fed between a platen 1 and a thermal head 2 to be taken up by an ink sheet take-up roll 4. Line-basis image data is transferred to the head 2, which supplies the ink sheet with a quantity of heat proportional to the image data, thereby performing thermal transfer. The quantity of curling of a recording paper 7 after transferring is greater as the quantity of heat applied is greater. The average of a one-line amount of the image data transferred to the head 2 is calculated, sequentially for each line, and average image data for one sheet is obtained when printing in three colors is finished. By this, it is possible to predict the curl quantity of the recording paper by a calculating circuit 12 through obtaining the quantity of heat applied to the recording paper 7. |
