PURPOSE:To easily provide a higher density and to widen a frequency rang by changing the film thickness in the exposed part at the front end of one magnetic film and setting the film thickness difference between a thin part and thick part larger than a magnetic gap width. CONSTITUTION:The lower magnetic film 2, the upper magnetic film 3 and a gap material 5 are held in place between a ceramics substrate 1 and a protective film 7. A conductor coil is formed via an org. resin film between the two magnetic films 2 and 3. The gap material 5 is formed to a plane shape between the two magnetic films 2 and 3 on the recording medium-facing surface to constitute the magnetic gap 8 and the size in the transverse direction thereof is determined as the magnetic gap width. The lower edge 9 of the lower magnetic film 2 and the upper edge 10 of the upper magnetic film 3 are formed to an arc shape, by which the film thickness is changed and the difference between the min. film thickness and max. film thickness thereof is made larger than the magnetic gap width. A deviation is generated in the timing of signal reading out by the edges 9, 10 which is the cause for undershoots 25, 26 by forming the magnetic film edges 9, 10 to the arc shape and the undershoots 25, 26 are, therefore, diminished. |
