The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the orientation of bar-shaped articles (G) which are to be delivered lying next to one another or one behind the other and are to be fed to a subsequent packaging machine in an oriented manner, that is to say with their two ends in a predetermined position. The articles (G) delivered at a common location (3) are checked for their orientation by a test device (8) and, depending on the test result, are fed either to a first outlet (6) or, after rotation through 180@ by means of a rotary disc (2), to a second outlet (7). The articles (G) leaving the two outlets (6 and 7) with the same orientation are subsequently combined so as to lie parallel next to one another in a row.
