An automobile cruise control system incorporates a set speed memory U6 which retains its set speed value even when power to the rest of the system is shut-off by switch S3. The system may also include another, volatile memory U5. Speeds can be set in the memory U5 by operation of the switches S1 and S2, and can be set in the memory U6 by operation of the switch S2 and the memory set switch.
