A method of correcting phase of MR image without almost permitting the scanning time to increase and without the need of measuring or storing the phase distortion data over the whole scanning regions. First, the section to be imaged is measured for its phase distortion over any small region using a phantom. Among the image data obtained by measuring the sample to be inspected, phase distortion of image data of a region near the region corresponding to the region where the phase distortion is measured, is corrected to determine if an imaginary component of the image data becomes zero or not. When it is not zero, the quantity for correcting the phase is so adjusted that the imaginary component becomes zero thereby to determine a correct phase correction quantity for this region. Using the thus determined phase correction quantity, other phase correction quantities are successively found for the neighboring regions through the similar processing. Using a map of the thus found phase correction quantities, the phase distortion of image data measured from the sample to be inspected is corrected. |
