PURPOSE:To enable high-speed recording and obtain images free of contamination by heat or the like, by a method wherein heat is applied to the surface of a coating layer comprising a phenol compound and at least one low molecular weight organic matter on a base by a thermal head according to image information, and adhering a colorless dye or a dye to the surface of the layer while the surface is in a molten state. CONSTITUTION:At least one low molecular weight organic matter to be jointly used with a phenol compound is a compound which is melted at 60-180 deg.C when being heated in the presence of the phenol compound, remains in the molten state for at least 5 min under room temperature after the melting, and is capable of coloring a colorless dye of the phenol compound. The organic matter is dispersely applied to a smooth base to have a volume average particle diameter of not more than 5mum. It is preferable to apply the colorless dye to the surface of the coating layer comprising the phenol compound or a transferred surface within 5 min after the application of heat while the heat-applied part is in a molten state. |
