PURPOSE:To reduce internal resistance and improve discharge characteristic by press-attaching a wedge-shaped projection arranged on the back side of a cap to the upper part of a connecting part between cells. CONSTITUTION:A connecting part 8 between cells is formed by welding electrode lugs 7 of positive and negative plate clusters 5, 6 together, with a partition wall 4 of a case 2 interposed between them. A wedge-shaped projection 9 arranged on the back side of a cap corresponding to the top of the connecting part 8 is pressed against and cuts into the top of the connecting part 8. This makes it unnecessary to form a covering body at the connecting part between the cells by attaching a split forming mold to that part and makes it possible to reduce the height of the electrode lugs of the positive and negative plate clusters, to reduce internal resistance, and to improve discharge characteristic. |
