PURPOSE:To aim at the compactness of the upper and lower portions of side chambers on both sides of a crank chamber, and the prevention of air trapping by intercommunicating a transmission chamber and an oil sump to each other which are vertically provided on one side of the crank chamber, and further intercommunicating the upper and lower portions to the crank chamber and the oil sump, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A crank shaft 41 is horizontally disposed in a crank chamber 23, and then, a transmission chamber 25 and an oil sump 27 are vertically arranged sideward of the crank chamber in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the crank shaft 41. The transmission chamber 25 and the oil sump 27 are partitioned from each other by means of partition walls 87, 89 so as to be intercommunicated in such a way that oil flows down. On both sides of the crank chamber in the longitudinal direction of the crank shaft 41, there are respectively disposed a left side chamber 29 provided with a sprocket 47 and a generator 49 therein and a right side chamber 31 provided with gears 51, 53, 55, and further, the upper and lower portions of both side chamber 29, 31 are intercommunicated to the crank chamber 23 and the oil sump 27, respectively. |
