NEW MATERIAL:p-(2-Vinyloxyethoxy)benzoic acid benzyl ester of formula I. USE:A sensitivity-improving agent. Useful for improving the sensitivity of a heat-sensitive recording material utilizing the color-development reaction of a leuco dye with a color-developing agent. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced according to the reaction formula by reacting p-hydroxybenzoic acid benzyl ester of formula II with ClCH2CH2OCH=CH2 in the presence of NaOH. In the case of using the compound of formula I as a sensitivity improver for a heat-sensitive recording material, the compound is used in combination with a color-developing system composed of a leuco dye [e.g. 3,3-bis(p-dimethylaminophenyl)-phtanlide] and a color-developing agent. |
