PURPOSE:To enhance the resolving power at the time of magnification display, by providing an operation control part for controlling a transmission and reception control part and a display control part when the number of rasters due to an ultrasonic probe becomes half usual ones or less to perform the operational processing for doubling raster density. CONSTITUTION:An operation control part 10 grasps a scanning range and sends a control signal to a transmission and reception control circuit 4 and a display control part 11 when the number of rasters become half usual ones or less at the time of magnification display. The transmission and reception control circuit 4 narrows a scanning range to the range corresponding to a magnifying range on the basis of said control signal and performs scanning for increasing raster density by two times. At the same time, the display control part 11 increases the raster density by two times corresponding to the scanning range to display an ultrasonic image on a display part 16.
