PURPOSE:To simplify an assignment operation by storing a position information for an optional reproducing position on a disk as a index information to a memory means and selecting a index selecting information by an index information selecting means. CONSTITUTION:When the position information for the optional reproducing position on the disk is inputted as the index information by an index information input means 1, this is stored in the memory means 2, and then when an optional one of the stored index information is selected by the index information selecting means 3, this index information is read out of the memory means 2, and the reproducing position on the disk indicated by the readout index information is retrieved by a control means 4 to start reproducing form this position. By this method, once the position information for the optional reproducing position on the disk is stored as the index information in the memory means 2, this position can thence be retrieved by selecting the index selecting information by the index information selecting means 3.
