PURPOSE:To enable accurate feeding-out and feeding of a variety of media, by inputting and storing the size of media, sequentially feeding out one medium at a time from a stack of the media, and discriminating the propriety of the feedingout based on the stored size. CONSTITUTION:When the size of a printing paper 10 is inputted through a keyboard 11, the size is stored into a memory 14a. With a command for printing supplied, a feeding-controlling part 16 causes one of feeding-out parts 4a-4d to feed out a designated printing paper 10 from a corresponding one of hopper cassettes 3a-3d. Simultaneously, the memory 14a is searched for size data corresponding to the designated printing paper 10. The size data L thus read is converted into a time T1. The leading and trailing ends of the printing paper 10 fed out and fed are detected, and the time T2 between the detection of the leading end and the detection of the trailing end is counted by a timer 54. When a comparing and discriminating part 55 finds that T1= T2, a signal (a) is emitted, namely, the feeding-out/feeding of the printing paper 10 is judged as normal. When T1 (T2 or T1>T2, the paper 10 is fed to a rejecting part 3e.
