PURPOSE:To raise the efficiency of operations by a method in which a water- in-oil type water-swelling polymer granular emulsion or its aqueous dispersion is injected to the surface of its neighbor of pile to reduce the frictional resistance of the peripheral face of the pile during the driving or drawing periods. CONSTITUTION:One or two or more of water-soluble vinyl monomers and a cross-linking monomer in an aqueous solution are dispersed by a hydrophobic surfactant into an organic dispersion medium to cause radical polymerization reaction to obtain a water-in-oil type water-swelling polymer granular emulsion. The emulsion is coated by brush, etc., on the surface of a pipe P, and the pile P is driven, where the emulsion is gelled by absorption of water in the ground to reduce the peripheral frictional resistance of the pile P and also to stop the flow of water in the grip portion. During the drawing period of the pile P, as well as the reduction of the frictional resistance of the peripheral surface, the adhesion of soil to the pile P can be prevented. The efficiency of operations can thus be raised.
