<p>The method involves the determination of the X, Y coordinates of the position of a scintillator crystal excited by nuclear radiation in terms of signals X<+>, X<->, Y<+>, Y<-> produced in a conventional way by an electronic circuit associated with the scintillator crystal. The X<+>, X<->, Y<+> and Y<-> signals are digitised and the numerical coordinate X (respectively Y) is obtained as the product of a first digital data element X<+> - X<-> (respectively Y<+> - Y<->) and a second digital data element inversely proportional to the energy of the nuclear radiation received.
