<p>A photographic film processor (10) having a controller (40) and a drive motor (28) for conveying exposed film (5) from a spool (6) and along a film path through a series of process stations (11-15) is disclosed. The photographic processor (10) includes: a main power supply (30) and an auxiliary power supply (32) for the processor; a selector switch (36) normally operable to apply main power to the processor and alternatively operable to apply auxiliary power to the processor in the event of an interruption in main power; and a film cutter mechanism (50) including a guillotine blade (52) reciprocable relative to a stationary shear block (58) in the film path, a latch (62) to hold the blade (52) in a ready position, a trip lever (60) responsive to an unwound film spool being pulled against it to release the latch (62) and blade (52), and a spring (66) to drive the blade (52) through a cutting stroke for cutting the spool (6) from the film (5) whereby the processor is powered, in the event of an interruption of main power, to finish processing any film which is already in process.</p> |
