PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately fit a piston ring to a piston by measuring a distance between the ring groove of the piston on a magazine and the uppermost piston ring and providing a height measuring means for adjusting a feed amount of a piston ring feeding means. CONSTITUTION:A piston 11 gripped by a gripping means 15 fitted to a conveying means (robot) 14 is set by the conveying means 14 in a recess formed on the taper cone 24 of a magazine 22. Next, the motor 35 of a feeding means 25 is driven to move a ball nut 32 upward to push up a piston ring (spacer expander ring) 13 toward the taper cone 24 from the base end of the magazine 22 and the diameter of the piston ring 13 is expanded to be fitted in the ring groove of the piston 11. At this time, a distance between this ring groove and the uppermost piston ring 13 is measured by the distance sensor of a height measuring means 40 fitted to with a gripping means 15 and the feed amount of a feeding means 25 is adjusted so that the distance between the uppermost piston ring 13 and the ring groove 12 is fixed to make fitting easy. |
