PURPOSE:To accurately read out information such as characters and graphic forms even if a scanning speed is not fixed by regulating the size in a scanning direction by a block forming circuit and correcting reading data in the scanning direction so as to be appropriate for the regulated size. CONSTITUTION:An information reading part 5 continuously reads out information on an original at a sampling period regulated by an information reading circuit 6 and inputs a data signal to a block forming circuit 7. The circuit 7 regulates a distance SD in the scanning direction by regarding a point inputting first reading data signal as a basic point and inputs the distance data to a correcting circuit 8. The circuit 8 compresses or expands the data in the scanning direction time sequentially out of read data read out from the circuit 6 and allows the compressed or expanded data to be appropriate for the scanning direction distance of the block forming part 7. Even if the scanning speed is unfixed, patterned information such as a character and a graphic form can be accurately read out.
