In the preparation of a fuel for a fluidized bed, a coal, with an ash content of 30-40 per cent by weight, a moisture content of 10-30 per cent by weight, a fines proportion of 5-35 per cent by weight and a sulphur content of 6-8 per cent by weight, fines proportion meaning the proportion with a grain size of under 300 μm, and a sulphur absorbent in the form of at least one of the substances calcium carbonate and calcium magnesium carbonate are mixed. In this connection, use is made of a sulphur absorbent of which at least 50 per cent by weight has a grain size of at most 30 μm. The mixture is agglomerated to form an agglomerate containing a number of particles of coal and a number of particles of sulphur absorbent, the coal being made to assume a moisture content of 20-30 per cent by weight and the mixture of coal and absorbent being subjected to agglomeration until at least 50 per cent by weight of the fines proportion in the coal has together with the absorbent formed an agglomerate with a size in excess of 300 μm. <IMAGE> |
