960,599. Travelling-wave tubes. TELEFUNKEN A.G. Sept. 30, 1960 [Sept. 30, 1959], No. 33556/60. Heading H1D. The helix 1 of a travelling-wave tube is supported by parallel rods 2 which are wedged by the shaped inner peripheries 4, 4a of two adjacent rings 3. The wedging action is performed by rotating the rings in opposite directions. Two or more pairs of rings 3 may be spaced apart along the helix. The spacing between the pairs of rings may be chosen to suppress undesired types of oscillation and the material of the rings may be chosen to modify the usual magnetic focusing field. |
