PURPOSE:To prevent the poor contact between a conductive sheet and a polarizable electrode and to obtain a relatively inexpensive electric double layer capacitor of improved characteristics by lowering an equivalent series resistance ESR by a method wherein the polarizable electrode is pushed into a case by a conductive sheet. CONSTITUTION:The porous conductive sheets 4 and 5 laminated on the side of the separator 3 of polarizable electrodes 1 and 2 consist of the expanded metal such as Al, Ni and the like and a punching metal. Also, metal cases 6 and 7 are calked at their end parts with each other, and they are airtightly closed by the gasket 8 made of polypropylene and the like. The terminals 9 and 10 of conductive sheets 4 and 5 are spot-welded to the inner wall of the cases 6 and 7, and the polalizable electrodes 1 and 2 are pushed into the cases 6 and 7. Accordingly, an ESR is reduced to one half of that heretofore in use, the capacity of the title capacitor can be increased, and the period of discharge can also be made longer in general. |
