摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce data damping time by a method wherein, among a plurality of CCD segments composed of shift register means which produce outputs successively with timing corresponding to clock signals, some segments have pitches in a charge transfer direction of segments corresponding to unnecessary parts of a photodetector which are made larger than those of the segments corresponding to the necessary parts. CONSTITUTION:Among CCD segments 26a constituting a shift register 26, the CCD segments corresponding to the necessary parts such as a reference part M0 and a comparison part M1 have a narrow pitch. On the other hand, the CCD segments corresponding to picture element photodiodes of unnecessary parts, shown as deleted parts S in the figure, have a wide pitch. With this constitution, charges given to the respective CCD segments 26a through an accumulating part 23 can pass through the unnecessary parts faster when they are transferred from left to tight in the figure by clock pulses phi1 and phi2. Therefore, the charges can pass through the CCD segments of the shift register corresponding to the unnecessary photodetectors by smaller number of clock pulses so that transfer speed can be increased and data damping time can be reduced.
