A paramedicamentous cosmetic preparation having a softening action contains, as the basic constituent n-dodecanol-1 (or lauryl alcohol), and in addition at least one polyol selected from the low molecular weight diols and an excipient such as vaseline and/or lanoline in proportions such that the quantity of n-dodecanol constitutes about 20% of the preparation; it contains an antioxidant which prevents breakdown of the finished product, for example tocopherol. The paramedicamentous cosmetic preparation has a softening action on nails and hyperkeratoses. |
