摘要 For generating optimum torque at different engine speeds, the valve timing curves (I, II) of the two inlet valves (3, 4), assigned to a cylinder (2) of an internal combustion engine and supplied by way of separate inlet lines (7, 8), of which the one inlet valve (3) is supplied with air and fuel at all engine speeds, whereas the other inlet valve (4) is supplied with additional air only at higher engine speeds, are selected in such a way that return flows are prevented in the one inlet valve (3) and in the other inlet valve (4) use is made of a boost effect due to a considerably longer opening phase of that valve (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
