PURPOSE:To enable high precision tracing of contactless type by generating the speed along each axis at a shorter period of cycle than the tracing direction calculating period of cycle, and by returning the position of a contactless probe to the surface to be traced at each time. CONSTITUTION:When the measured distance L is entered in a tracer control device 11 from a contactless probe 17, an adding device 11b determines the error L of it from the standard distance LO, and thereupon speed signal generating parts 11c, 11d generate the normal direction VN and tangential direction VT speed signals. A tracing direction calculating part 11a, on the other hand, determines the current tracing direction thetan+1 from the tracing direction in the previous time that thetan and the difference between thetan and the tracing direction thetan-1 in the time slot before it, and a speed signal generating part 11e generates each axis speed signal VX, VZ, and thus the probe 17 shall trace the face of the model. In parallel therewith a rotation control part 11f rotates the probe 17 round its center of rotation at a certain angle velocity one tracing direction thetan+1 after another so as to control to obtain vertical orientation. Thus high precision tracing is accomplished contactlessly.
