When the heating surface of a device of this type curves to a relatively pronounced extent in a way which is in many cases actually desireable, a limit is established in that the cover necessary particularly for heat insulation should not be at too great a distance from the heating surface in the region of the heating-surface ends. The new device is to make it possible to fix the curvature of the heating surface according to practical aspects alone. Depending on the necessary extent of curvature, the cover is divided into two or more portions which can each be mounted and moved independently via hinges. Common actuation can take place by means of a suitable coupling connection between the individual portions. By an appropriate division of the cover, the differences in distance in the middle of the portions and at their ends can be kept within predetermined limits, irrespective of the extent of curvature.
