The joint socket (1) used is of pliable elastic material, e.g. silicon rubber, and has a mainly cylindrical central part (11) and downwardly conical end parts (12), the smallest dia. of which is less than that of the cables (2,3) to be joined. The socket is formed so that it can be doubly folded before fitment, and the facing surfaces of the thus folded socket have shallow, tightly locating deepened parts for accommodation of a lubricant to permit them to slide against each other during assembly. - The downwardly conical end parts of the socket have different cone angles, and when the socket is doubly folded the end part with the greatest cone angle is located innermost. The end parts has a cylindrical end extension part which when the socket is doubly folded projects further in an axial direction than the other end part. |
