PURPOSE:To obtain a corrosion resistant Al plate having a film free from defects such as pinholes and having superior corrosion resistance by successively forming a plasma-polymerized film and a film of an inorg. or org. substance on the surface of an Al plate. CONSTITUTION:A styrene monomer or the like is plasma-polymerized to form a polymerized film on an Al or Al alloy plate. The film is homogeneous, has high density and a high degree of cross-linking and can be formed in the irreducible min. thickness required. A protective film of an inorg. or org. substance is then formed on the outside of the polymerized film by coating or other method. Water glass, alumina sol or the like is suitable for use as the inorg. substance and polyester resin, epoxy resin or the like is suitable for use as the org. substance. Thus, an Al plate capable of maintaining superior corrosion resistance over a long period is obtd.
