<p>PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the charge efficiency by providing a magnetic pole piece and a solenoid valve in a valve and a cylinder head, respectively, so as to form an electromagnetic actuator which holds the valve at a predetermined valve opening position. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic actuator 11 which is disposed between a cylinder head 1 and a retainer 7, is composed of a solenoid 12 secured to the cylinder head 1 and a magnetic pole piece 13 adapted to be attracted by the solenoid 12 which is energized under the control of a control unit 15. Meanwhile, an intake valve 2 is opened by means of a cam 10 through the intermediary of a rocker arm 9 while the intake vale 2 is closed by a return spring 8. In this arrangement, the electromagnetic actuator 1 is operated hold the intake valve at a predetermined valve opening position irrespective of the rotation of the cam 10. With this arrangement it is possible to retard the valve closing operation of the intake valve 2, thereby it is possible to enhance the charge efficiency, etc.</p> |
