PURPOSE:To execute the continuous reproducing of a recorded floppy, etc., by resuming recording of a sound signal to a different track from a track under access in response to releasing the pause. CONSTITUTION:When a memory 4 is stored with a sound signal as much as one track, the signal is compressed at the reset compressibility of time and modulated in frequency (FM) and then recorded on a vacant track by a system control 14. If the pause mode is turned on during the time of storing the compressed signal, the acceptance of the sound signal is stopped, and then the sound signal stored until that time in the memory 4 is recorded on the vacant track. At the time of stopping, the recording is carried out again by changing a plug for the completion of sequence to finish the recording operation. When the pause mode is turned off, the presence of any vacant track is checked, and if it exists, the acceptance of the sound signal into the memory 4 is resumed.
