PURPOSE:To perform the stable butting by fitting a movable plate to be butted against a reference plate on a magnet and connecting a piston rod of a cylinder to the magnet to butt the movable plate against the reference plate by an extending action of the piston rod and preventing the movable plate from deflection. CONSTITUTION:After the reference plate 1 is mounted and positioned on one pedestal 3a for welding and fixed thereon by a pressing member 6a, the movable member 2 is mounted and fitted on the magnet 8 for moving. The front edge of the movable plate 2 is mounted on a pedestal 3b for welding and its rear edge is mounted on rollers 10. Then, the piston rod 9a of the cylinder 9 is extended and a movable carriage 7 is moved in the direction of the pedestal 3b for welding and the movable plate 2 fitted on the magnet 8 is also brought close to the reference plate 1 and abutted thereon. After that, the magnet 8 is slid to the movable plate 2 and the pressing force of the piston rod 9a against the plate 2 does not function. Next, a pressing member 6b is mounted and fixed on the front edge of the movable plate 2 and the welding is performed along a butt line.
