PURPOSE:To facilitate discrimination of formation of a gaseous hydrate and formation of ice and to improve reliability by using a blocking electrode to measure the dielectric relaxation of a reaction system. CONSTITUTION:The blocking electrode consists of concentrical cylindrical cells 1, 2 which are made of SUS304 and are coated with 'Teflon(R)' to 50mu thickness. The blocking electrode 5 is immersed and fixed in a reaction system 7 consisting of CO2+H2O and the reaction system 7 is kept stirred. The results of the Cole- Cole plot determined by the dielectric relaxation method after the clathrate formation and decomposition of CO2 in the case of using the blocking electrode in such reaction system are as shown in the figure. The shapes of the respective curves vary and a distinct discrepancy is admitted in the size of the arcs on the high-frequency side of the curves (the left side in the figure, the range where the dielectric constant and dielectric loss are small). The identification of the clathrate formation and decomposition is, therefore, enabled by the difference in the size and relaxation frequency of the arcs by which the formation of the gaseous hydrate and the formation of the ice are easily discriminated. |
