<p>In order to obtain the fullest possible data concerning the antecedents and circumstances of an accident involving motor vehicles for the purpose of assessing responsibility, the accident data recorder is equipped with a video camera (5) arranged on or in the vehicle (1) and a video signal recording unit (2) to which are fed the signals from any other sensing devices (6) which may, if necessary, provide additional information concerning environmental conditions. The recording unit (2) can be designed as a video tape recorder with an endless tape or as a magnetic disk unit which are capable of recording data for 10 minutes and which on completion of such a cycle record over the last cycle which has not beeninterrupted by an accident.</p> |
