PURPOSE:To reduce the noise on a still picture plane by providing the means synchronizing the timing of making a reproducing picture in a still picture with a video head switching signal. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 1 is pushed, a system control circuit 2 outputs a H level or L level signal 12 and a signal generator 3 outputs the signal 14 synchronizing with the rise of a head changing signal 13 for the change-over from the H level to the L level and from the L level to the H level of the signal 12 transmitted from the system control circuit 2. The output of a capstan motor driver 4 is changed by this output signal 14 to stop and travel a video tape 5 by stopping and starting a capstan motor 7 and a still picture driving a noise out of the picture plane is reproduced.
