PURPOSE:To obtain a test compsn. which has good stability with age and a testing implement deposited therewith by incorporating a poly(alpha- hydroxyisopropyl phenyl) compd. contg. 3-7 pieces of alpha-hydroxyisopropyl phenyl groups in the molecule and an oxidation coloration indicator into said compsn. CONSTITUTION:The poly-compd. having 3-7 pieces of the alpha-hydroxyisopropyl phenyl groups in the molecule is dissolved in an org. solvent and an aq. hydro gen oxide soln. and a small amt. of mineral acid are added to this soln. to effect a reaction. Water is added to the reaction mixture after the end of the reaction and extraction is made by an org. solvent. The solvent is distilled from the extract. The residual matter is then refined by column chromatography, etc., by which the polycompd. is produced. The test compsn. contg. the polycompd. and oxidation coloration indicator and the testing implement deposited therewith have the stability with age and the good detection sensitivity is maintained even after long-term storage.
