PURPOSE:To improve abrasion resistance of a catalyst for conversion of hydrocarbon by forming the catalyst by mixing crystalline aluminosilicate zeorite and matrix consisting of alumina, magnesia, etc., in a specified proportion. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst is produced by mixing alumina-magnesia hydrogel, clay mineral slurry and zeorite slurry, spray-drying the mixture with 200-350 deg.C hot air and thereafter calcining it at 500-600 deg.C. The catalyst contains 3-40wt.% crystalline aluminosilicate zeorite and 60-97wt.% matrix consisting of alumina, magnesia and smectite type clay mineral; the matrix contains 5-80wt.% alumina, 2-40wt.% magnesia and 10-90wt.% clay mineral.
