PURPOSE:To obtain a wash primer composition which is freed of problems such as environmental pollution and excels in corrosion inhibition, by constituting it from a polyvinyl butyral resin solution containing a specified amount of V2O5 or ammonium vanadate and phosphoric acid as the principal components. CONSTITUTION:1-12wt.%, based on the total weight of the composition, one member selected from among vanadium pentaoxide, ammonium vanadate and a mixture thereof is added to a resin solution based on a polyvinyl butyral resin. This resin solution is combined with an acid solution based on phosphoric acid to obtain the purpose two-pack wash primer composition. This composition is freed of problems such as injury to health because it contains no chromium compound and exhibits excellent corrosion inhibition to, especially, an aluminum material, and can be suitably used as a treating agent for painting substrates of various buildings, structures, etc.
