PURPOSE:To stably produce the title fine powder having uniform particle diameter by melting and then cooling a raw mixture having a specified composition of an oxides of Ba, Be, etc., -TiO2-B2O3 system, heat-treating the obtained amorphous material, and then treating the material with a dil. acid. CONSTITUTION:In the triangular plot for the system AO-TiO2-B2O3, a mixture having a composition in the region surrounded by the lines connecting point (a) corresponding to 50mol.% AO and 50mol.% B2O3, point (b) corresponding to 55mol.% TiO2 and 45mol.% AO, and point (c) corresponding to 45mol.% TiO2 and 55mol.% AO is prepared. In the plot, A is >=1 kind among Ba, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ra. The mixture having the above-mentioned composition is melted, and then quenched to obtain an amorphous material. The amorphous material is heat-treated to deposit the desired crystallite of the titanate. Since the dependency of the diameter of the deposited particles on the heat treating condition is mild in the above-mentioned composition range, the particle diameter can be easily controlled by changing the heat-treating condition or the composition. The sintered body is then treated with a dil. acid to extract and separate the fine particles of the titanate.
