PURPOSE:To relax the accuracy of positioning a magnetoelectric converting element by forming a rotating body for magnetic recording to nearly an annular or circular sectional shape and forming a magnetic alumite film on the outer peripheral face of said body. CONSTITUTION:The rotating body 7 for magnetic recording is formed to a cylindrical shape and is fitted to a disk-shaped connecting member 8 fixed to an input shaft 6. The rotating body 7 is formed of 1,000 type aluminum and the magnetic alumite film is formed on the outer peripheral face 10 thereof. Magnetic information consisting of magnetization patterns 11... having rectangular shapes is recorded thereon. The magnetic information is read by the magnetoelectric converting element provided to face the outer peripheral face 10. The shapes of the individual magnetization patterns 11 are rectangular and the pitches thereof are the same in any position in the thickness direction of the rotating body 7. The positioning accuracy of the element 12 is, therefore relaxed.
